My love of woodworking began in 1958 in 7th grade wood shop. I took wood shop through both junior and high school, loving every minute of it.
Marriage, two kids, a contracting business, lack of space and time table my wood working for a long time. With the exception of a bookcase or a bench here and there, or garage cabinets, I did not get back into woodworking until 1989. This is when I was fortunate to enroll in the wood program at Palomar College in San Marcos, California. Their wood program is in the top three in the USA. Over the next few years, I studied cabinet design and construction, furniture design and construction, chair design and consrurction, and wood finishing. I was honored and privileged to study the works of Sam Maloof and was coached by him in sculptured chairs. I moved to Deer Canyon Preserve just south of Mountainair, NM in 2008 where I have a full woodworking ship to pursue my love for design and woodworking. I select and combine beautiful woods such as spalted maple and walnut to create one-of-a-kind functional art including cutting boards, knives, and screwdrivers, as well as custom made cabinets and chairs that are works of art. I welcome commissions and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
